Thomas Vinterberg is a Danish director and screenwriter, best known for his work within the Dogme 95 movement, a filmmaking approach that sought to strip away unnecessary flourishes and focus on raw, natural storytelling. Vinterberg’s most notable film, The Celebration (1998), was the first to be made under the Dogme 95 rules and is a dark family drama that exposes long-buried secrets during a birthday celebration. Vinterberg later gained international recognition for Another Round (2020), a drama about a group of high school teachers who experiment with alcohol consumption to improve their lives. His films are often noted for their emotional intensity, thought-provoking themes, and ability to explore complex characters in a realistic and relatable way.
