The Best Posts Of December 2015
It’s been a crazy busy year at Filmmaking Lifestyle, as well as a busy end to the year in the month of December. We’ve posted more articles in 2015 than any other year since the site’s inception in 2011.
I just want to take the time to thank all of our readers and wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
As well as a busy time on this site, there’s been plenty going on around the internet and the filmmaking and video production communities. It seems folks didn’t fall into early holiday relaxation into the festive period, as lots and lots of interesting articles, videos and commentaries have sprung up this month.
I’ve put the links into a number of sections to separate them from each other and make things a little more specific.
Filmmaking & Directing
Billed as ‘Revolution Is Coming,’ news broke of the release of a new 4K cinema camera that’ll retail for under 4K. As experts have been predicting for a while now, it’s only a matter of time before 4K images are accessible for filmmakers with all types of budgets.
The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) finally admits names and home addresses in drone registry will be publicly available. This is pretty big news for drone/aerial videography users in the United States.

Software, Hardware & Visual Effects
Vimeo came out with a huge announcement this month that they’re going 4K and adding variable bitrate streaming. What does this mean for us filmmakers? No Film School has an informative article on the changes.
We had an important article on media storage and how to backup your footage for maximum efficiency. This could be the most crucial article you read this month!
And we can’t really finish this edition in December without a hat-tip to the release of the biggest film of the month (and arguably the last ten years!) Here’s Indie Film Hustle with Star Wars Films: The Ultimate Visual Effects Breakdown.

This month’s Video of the Month features an irate Quentin Tarantino sounding off about Disney, in his opinion, strong-arming Hollywood’s legendary Cinerama Dome into not playing his new film The Hateful Eight.
