If you haven’t heard of explainer videos, you’re probably wondering what they are. Well, simply put, it’s a short video that explains a topic or product in a simple and concise manner. But why do you need one? And how do you make one?

Trying to explain what an explainer video is to your friends, family, or even colleagues can prove to be difficult.

It’s like trying to describe what a movie is without using any of the following: actors, set design, plot, or even dialogue. You’re left with no other option but to show them an example.

Explainer videos work in much the same way. So if you’re trying to convince someone why they should invest in making an explainer video for their business, here are some points that may help:

1. A Video Is More Engaging Than Text

Most people find it easier to process content when they can see and hear it rather than read it. They also have a better memory of what they saw and heard as compared to what they read.

2. Video Ads Are More Effective Than Banner Ads

In fact, according to Google and Hubspot data from 2013, online video advertising generates 12 times more leads than traditional display ads on average.

How To Write Explainer Videos That Convert

What Are explainer videos?

Explainer videos are a great way to help people understand your product.

Explainers are short videos that show people how your product works, why they should use it and why they’ll benefit from it.

They’re a great way to convey the value of an awesome new product or service and to encourage people to buy it.

Unlike traditional television ads, which are consumed one after the other, explainer videos are often viewed in a series. So a single video explaining your product or service can have a lasting impact on your business.

A successful explainer video is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your expertise and show off your company’s personality.

The goal is to make a meaningful connection with potential customers through the use of creative storytelling, entertaining characters, and engaging visuals.

How Do You Write An Explainer Video Script?

When creating an explainer video, one of the first decisions you will have to make is what your video will be about. You are essentially writing a script for your video so it is important to choose a topic that is engaging and relevant to your audience.

Video scripts should be clear, concise and easy to follow. Before you begin writing your script, brainstorm a list of all the aspects of your business you want people to know about.

This can include the product or service you provide, the benefits of using it, the company history and anything else that people need to know to get started.

Once you’ve narrowed down your topic, make sure you include all of the important information within your script.

As well as detailing what you do and how you do it, provide some background information on yourself and your business so that viewers have everything they need in one place.

Formatting

Write up your script in a word processing program like Word or Pages.

This will make the formatting process easier when it comes time to add in any images or graphics.

Some of the main areas to cover within your script are listed below.

It isn’t necessary to cover every point but try to ensure that you consider every area.

Step 1. Define The Problem

Hello, my name is Andrew. I’m a teacher.

And today I’ll be talking to you about the steps of a scientific method project. Now, there are many different types of scientific methods.

There’s the natural sciences like physics, chemistry, biology and so on.They use the scientific method to solve problems that have answers that can be tested through repeatable experiments by scientists and observers.

In contrast, there is the social sciences. They study human behavior and economics using empirical data but they cannot be tested through experimentation.

Step 1 Define The Problem: Well, let’s say you’re doing a social science project. Like me! And you have to figure out what your problem is before you can go any further.

What is it that you want to know? What question are you trying to answer? This should be pretty straight forward for most projects but if anything is unclear just ask your teacher for help!Step 2 Make Observations: What do you already know about this problem? Is there a lot of information out there or not much? Are you working with a team or on your own? Well, maybe you have to talk to some people first and find out more information about this problem!

Step 2. Show The Solution In Your Explainer Video

At the end, you’ll have everyone’s attention, but if you don’t take advantage of it, all is for nought. You should use the second part of your video to deliver the solution to your problem or pain point.

Telling people only about the problem and providing a solution without showing one will leave them in the dark about how your product actually works. And if they can’t see how your product works and how it addresses their problem, there’s no way they’re going to buy from you.

Show how your product solves their problem as simply as possible. Don’t fall into the trap of going on and on about it or showing unnecessary parts of your product that don’t add value.

This is where you have to be ruthless in editing down everything that doesn’t speak directly to the customer’s problem. We’ve found the best approach can be summarised in this simple formula: Problem + Solution = Profit.

Why is this so effective? Well, firstly it states exactly what you’re going to talk about right up front. This puts people at ease because they know what they’re getting themselves into and they’re not left in suspense wondering “How will this help me?”.

Secondly, it gives a clear indication of what they are going to gain

Step 3. Show Them How Your Product Helps

Step 3. Show Them How Your Product Helps

The best products solve a problem for the consumer. In this section, tell your story about how you solve the problem better than anyone else.

What is the problem? What is happening to your customers? What are their challenges and frustrations? What needs have they tried to address with other solutions that haven’t worked? What has been keeping them from getting what they really want or need?Your solution should be based on research and interviews that you’ve done with potential customers as part of your market research. This can be as simple as a six-word description like “The easiest way to make a great cup of coffee at home.”

Your product description should also include two or more benefits that your customers will experience after they purchase it. These benefits should be quantifiable, specific, and unique to your solution.

The more specific you are about these benefits, the easier it will be for someone to understand quickly why your product is better than anything else on the market.Step 3: Show Them How Your Product HelpsIn this step, you will prove why your product is worth it.

What are the features and benefits? What makes it different from similar products. This is the most important part of your sales page because you will be using this information to answer any objections.

While it’s hard to believe that people would buy without seeing actual proof that the product will provide them with what they want, it happens every day. In fact, if you’re unable to show evidence that your product works, people will simply move on to the next vendor who can prove how great their product is.

You’ll also want to make sure that you’re not just telling them about all the things the product can do, but rather how they specifically benefit from all those benefits.

Step 4. Call To Action

The goal of an effective call to action is to inspire your visitors to take the action that you want them to take. When done right, a call to action will help you achieve your goals and increase the number of sales that you get from your website.

Telling people what you want them to do is not an effective way to get them to do it. You have to inspire them with a compelling offer, like a discount or a free gift.

Here are some effective ways to use a call to action on your website:Offer something irresistible. You may want people to sign up for your e-mail newsletter, buy your product or download your free report.

Whatever it is, make sure it’s something so valuable that they can’t resist taking advantage of the opportunity when they see it on your site. A free gift or a large discount will always get more attention than a regular sales offer.

Keep the process simple. If you need someone’s name and address before you can give them their free gift, don’t make them fill out two forms before they even know if they’re going to get it! Keep the process simple so that more people will complete it.

Make it easy for people to find their way back again.
