BEST MIRRORLESS CAMERA UNDER 500 DOLLARS

What Are Mirrorless Cameras?

Mirrorless cameras are the latest in photography technology. Traditional digital cameras use a reflex mirror to reflect light from the lens up to an optical viewfinder or video screen.

Mirrorless cameras do not have this luxury, so they rely on electronic displays for framing and review of images.

The absence of a moving part means that these cameras can be much lighter than their traditional counterparts while still offering comparable image quality and performance.

Mirrorless cameras offer many advantages over traditional DSLRs, such as smaller size and weight, better battery life, and an articulating screen that can be used for selfies or vlogging.

What You Need to Consider

USB charging

You don’t want to look for AC adapters during a shoot or while you’re away in the wilderness, etc.

Make sure the camera you buy is compatible with USB and save yourself the headache. Most cameras offer it, nowadays. But just to be safe, make sure it’s there.

Battery Life

Mirrorless cameras have short battery life and you don’t want to change batteries every couple of hours.

Make sure your camera has a decent battery life before buying. You can check reviews of each camera to make sure you’re not getting the short straw.

SD Cards

Read the specification and find out what type of SD cards your camera is compatible with. Don’t go for a camera that uses a rare brand of SD cards. Always go for the most common type.

You don’t want to order them from around the world and wait 40 days of shipping. That’s just a pain.

Third-party lenses

Every camera specifies what adapter ring it has and what type of lenses it’s compatible with. You’ll need to look into that. It’ll suck your budget dry if you have to get different lenses for each camera you own.

Unless you’re really dedicated to a certain brand and don’t mind the exclusivity. But if you change the camera to something incompatible you’ll be stuck with a bunch of expensive magnifying glass.

Image Stabilization

You’ll really want this one. Trust me, once you try a camera that is readily equipped with a stabilizer you won’t want to go back to a camera with none.

Sensor Size

DSLRs have the biggest sensor sizes, thus they are bigger and bulkier than a mirrorless camera. Point and shoot cameras have the smallest sensor sizes. Mirrorless is somewhere in-between.

The problem is those small sensors perform worse in low light situations. Conventional wisdom is the bigger your sensor, the better the performance will be. So read well on the specs of the camera before you buy it.

Best Mirrorless Camera Under 500 Dollars – In Conclusion

All in all, there are a lot of great Mirrorless cameras out there. The market is highly competitive.

Several manufacturers release these cameras with great features at competitive prices. Before you buy, don’t forget the things I listed that you should consider first.

Make sure you have USB charging, a common SD card format, third party lenses support, decent battery life, and image stabilizer.

Do your research well and see what fits you. Each of these cameras is a great fit for a certain type of photographer. You just have to see which one ticks all your boxes. Good luck!
